Plains of Thanadan

A Vast flat, grassland that stretches for a few hundred miles, this great plain serves as a natural western frontier for the Ruthyrian Kingdom, as well as bordering the Ogrish lands, and the Kingdom of Thorne, these howling empty plains are devoid of much, save grass and the odd herd of wild animals, birds and prairie wolves. The Old Kings of Ruthyr chose not to settle the plain and rather leave the yawning gap as a buffer between themselves and the much more dangerous Ogrish Lands. The only sign of civilization in the place was the great stretch of the Kings road that stretches from the Direwood in the North, all the way southward to the Western Reaches near the Greymoon Sea. The road was the final installment linking the kingdom together, but no settelements or fortifications were ever placed upon it. Horse catchers occasionally make brief forays onto the plains to catch the Thanadian stallion (a horse of great value but wild of spirit) but these are only the most brief expeditions and don’t go far into the place…. Beyond that, there are rumors of structures, and even towns or cities in ruins hidden somewhere on the plain, these ancient places were supposedly part of the Empire of the Amber lords, but that could all simply be a tall tale told by horse traders…..
